A Birthday Poem
by
Patricia Blake

I wished on every star
I prayed for you & me,
Your tiny little heartbeat
Whispered through the trees.

When mist would touch my face,
It was your sweet baby kiss.
When rain drops fell from the sky,
I cried too for what I missed.

When the wind would blow & surround me,
You know what I would do?
I’d pretend it was your tiny arms,
And that you still loved me too.

But for every tear that fell,
And every kiss I missed...
There was one day...
One precious moment,
That I never would forget.

The day you were born
There was a sound that whispered to my soul,
That God had made a miracle
And that He would watch you grow.
