About Patricia and Her Writings
I have always loved writing...even as a child.
I loved poetry especially. As all children, my love for poetry began with Nursery Rhymes and as I grew up I was introduced to poets and their musings in school. I was always so dramatic about everything anyway. Some say I haven't changed much! I have favorites. My all time favorite poet is Christina Rossetti. I also love William Wordsworth. So far I have not been able to find it in print but one of the first poems written by Christina Rossetti that I ever heard was a short one that I memorized and never forgot...
"What can I give Him
poor as I am?
If I were a shephard
I would bring a lamb.
If I were a wiseman
I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him?
Give my heart."
by Christina Rossetti
And William Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud" has long been a favorite of mine since Junior High School.
"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tosing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee;
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company;
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils."
by William Wordsworth
Writing for me is such a grand way to express yourself and to explore the inner thoughts that would just lay there dormant if not for putting pen to paper and writing them down. Of course now with computers, it is more like putting fingers to the keyboard. I hope that my webpage of writings will encourage those that happen to read it to take the time to write down their thoughts and explore all of the varying ways of writing...poetry, prose, essays, short stories, anecdotes...novels! Hey you never know. I will add links to other pages about writing and to some books that I have found most helpful in hopes to encourage you to get involved in your own world of writing. Check back often...
